Governor Douye Diri has given a directive that Government Girls Secondary School, Kaiama in Kolokuma/ Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa state be relocated to a new site and be provided with new facilities.
This directive came as a result of the deplorable situation in the Government Girls Secondary School in Kaiama which has been damaged by perennial flooding destroying many equipment in the school.

Governor Diri was prompted by a picture of the school being circulated on the social media and the concerns this has raised.
A statement from the office of the Commissioner for Information Orientation and Strategy, Mr Ayibaina Duba stated that an on the spot assessment has been taken by Dr Gentle Emelah, the Commissioner for Education who has gone to see things for himself.
Mr Duba noted that the government is aware of the situation as a holistic plan is in the pipeline to revamp schools adding that much funds has been allocated to the ongoing construction and relocation of many schools in the state.
