The people of Opu-Nembe Kingdom in Nembe local government area of Bayelsa state, have called on the state and federal government to come to their aid as the Kingdom fears arms attack.
In a press briefing held in Opu-Nembe Kingdom on Tuesday, they decried the repeated armed invasion of the Kingdom, leading to various degree of injuries and death of persons in the kingdom.
The Chairman of Opu-Nembe Council of Chiefs, Chief Ezekiel Ikoli, said that the people of Opu-Nembe live in fear since the incident of 15th February 2023, as he appealed that the people responsible for the continuous attack of the kingdom are held culpable for their crime by relevant security agencies.Eradiri Joins the 2023 Governorship Race in Bayelsa state
Also speaking, A native of Opu-Nembe Kingdom, Agana Samuel, narrating the incident of the invasion, noted that it has resulted in indegenes deserting the Kingdom, hence, she urged security agencies to come to their rescue.
On his part, The Youth President of Opu-Nembe Kingdom, Moses Ebitimi, Stated that if the perpetrators of the attack on the kingdom are not brought to book, it indicates that the people at the helm of affairs are shielding them from facing the wrath of the law.
The people of Opu-Nembe Kingdom also noted that several petitions against the perpetrators to various security outfits across the nation has proven abortive.
