Desist from Illegality Aregbesola Task Edo State Immigration Service

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has warned men of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Edo State to desist from activities that could jeopardize the federal government’s effort in ensuring that Nigerians secure their travelling passports with ease.

The Minister noted that under his watch, he would not spare any immigration official engaged in any illegal practices adding that President Muhammadu Buhari was desirous of improving service delivery in the country.

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola came out with this at the official roll out of the enhanced E-passport in Benin, Asaba and Warri even as the commissioning of the passport production centre announced that ten thousand E-passport were available for all.

He noted that the Ministry of Interior was committed to changing the narrative on service delivery for the better.

He added that the enhanced E-passport carries twenty five additional security features and has been rated to be among the best in the world in terms of durability and quality.

The Minister commended President Buhari for his support in realizing the reform in the agency adding that it was a work in progress to completely digitalize the process.

On his part, Acting Controller of NIS, Mr Idris Jereh said with the unveiling in Edo, other states in the southern region would soon migrate to the E-passport as the latest passport technology.

Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki who was present at the commissioning said the unveiling would bring relief to those seeking passports and ease the application process.

Governor Obaseki noted that the state government would support the ministry to ensure a smooth execution of the process of getting passports.
