Bayelsa Peace Park To Wear New Look by 2023 Through Public-Private Partnership Pact

Plans have been concluded for the Bayelsa Peace Park to wear a new look in the coming new year.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Comrade Tamarakuro Oweifie, quoting the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Iti Orugbani, in response to a political critic, assuring Bayelsans that the Diri-led administration is committed to fulfilling its mandate on tourism through robust infrastructural development across the state and the Peace Park is on the front burner.

The SSA on Media to the Governor of Bayelsa State, maintains that the delay, was due to series of negotiations with the former handlers of the Peace Park over some contractual and legal bottlenecks, concerning the Park and with these talks concluded, fun seekers are assured of enjoying the entertainment value of the pleasure park next Christmas as work shall kick start on the Peace Park by January 2023.

He disclosed that a public-private partnership pact has been concluded to ensure that the Peace Park comes on full stream in no distant time as this shall contribute to internally generated revenue and shall also give the state capital a face lift.

“You will recall that only last week Sunday the Peace Park played host to the Bayelsa Food and Arts Festival that was attended by thousands of fun seekers who cherished the ambience of the park. So the park has really not been abandoned as adduced by some detractors and mischievous naysayers, but it shall be put to optimal use when work begins in no distant time.

“Tourism is pivotal in the development of Bayelsa State. That is why the Prosperity Government of Governor Douye Diri has focused on making the state safer in these two years because without safety of lives and property, tourism shall be an illusion.” Comrade Tamarakuro Oweifie, concludes.

Comrade Oweifie expresses optimism that with steady work on the three Senatorial Roads, tourism is sure to get a boost in the coming years as Bayelsa move towards tapping the full potentials of the coastal shores and the blue economy.
